About the RAAF
The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) is the principal aerial warfare force of Australia, a part of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) along with the Royal Australian Navy and the Australian Army. RAAF provides immediate military options as part of a whole government response and defends Australia and its citizens by controlling the airfield, acquiring intelligence through reconnaissance and surveillance, providing air mobility and operating some of the most advanced aircraft and defence technology in use anywhere today.
Developing an understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is essential for Air Force, and Defence, to enable personnel to make smarter and faster decisions, often in high-risk situations. To effectively and ethically adopt and deploy game-changing AI technology, a fundamental understanding of what it can and can not do must first be recognised. AI can improve many aspects of military operations, enhancing productivity, reducing the need for human input, and increasing efficiency.
Why AI Security is Critical for RAAF
In an increasingly connected environment and in the future of commercial aviation, cybersecurity is at the center of aviation technological strategies making AI security paramount for protecting military aviation systems and maintaining operational security. For RAAF, AI and AI security are fundamental to maintaining Australia's air superiority, protecting critical defense infrastructure, and ensuring personnel can make rapid, informed decisions in high-stakes military operations while safeguarding sensitive defense data and systems.
Mileva delivered an executive AI security workshop for RAAF leadership, highlighting the strategic importance of AI security in maintaining air superiority, operational integrity, and rapid decision-making capabilities. The session emphasised safeguarding critical defence infrastructure and sensitive military data against AI-driven cyber threats. Through targeted discussions, practical case studies, and interactive threat scenarios, Mileva equipped RAAF leaders with actionable insights to proactively shape internal AI policies and effectively integrate secure AI technologies. Participants gained a clearer understanding of potential vulnerabilities within military aviation systems, as well as comprehensive strategies for mitigating AI-specific risks, ensuring preparedness for future threats in the evolving operational landscape.
